Program Description
B.Pharm program is designed to impart fundamental knowledge of medicines, including discovering new medicines for incurable diseases. The course is prepared considering the needs of industry, which gives more impetus for skill development. It addresses all other demands of the profession of pharmacy.
Focus
In the first year, students gain basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, chemistry, analysis, pathophysiology and preparation of pharmaceuticals. In the second year, they study about various physical and physicochemical properties, principles involved in dosage form design, microbiology, medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. In third year, pharmacognosy related to plant medicines, industrial pharmacy, pharmacology and medicinal chemistry are taught. Fourth year is focused on pharmacy practice, Instrumental analysis and novel drug delivery systems. There are a few elective subjects in fourth year.
Career Prospects
B.Pharm graduates can don the roles of Industrial Pharmacist, Hospital and Community Pharmacist, Sales and Distribution Executive, Academic Pharmacist (training diploma in pharmacy students). With higher qualification, M.Pharm, a student can get jobs in niche areas such a s research, regulatory affairs, formulation development, marketing and administration in pharma industry.
Eligibility
Pass in 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, English with Biology/Mathematics as optional subjects from a recognized Board With minimum 50% ( Gen/0BC) and 45% (SC/ST) marks
